International Freedom Festival Commemorated in Cloth

Canada and the U.S. celebrate their friendship every year when their respective National Holidays, Canada Day (Dominion Day) and Independence Day coincide in early July.
I was born and grew up in Windsor, Ontario but have lived in the U.S. for more than half my life now and am proud to be a citizen of both countries.

One of my fondest memories was the International Freedom Festival - held annually by Windsor and Detroit, Michigan.  The celebratory spirit was capped by a huge fireworks display on barges in the Detroit River.  The Festival continues to this day.

I designed and constructed this wallhanging to commemorative this occasion.
The flying geese represent Canada.  The pinwheels are a symbol of celebration and the friendship star honors the friendship of the two countries.
