heat annealled copper

I never did get a fresh dark/light photo. But the other day when my halogen hob was cycling on and off I remembered the photos I took of using the hob to heat anneal a copper dragon for one of my pieces.

and this is how she turned out.

Silhouettes

I love silhouetting with strong colorful back lighting. I awoke one morning in Portland to this view, and just had to snap it.I knew it would be a good day.

And then in Palm Desert, another amazing morning. Life is indeed good!

I used to take loads of photos of sunsets etc. but it must have been in the days before digital as when I looked through my albums I had very few.

These were taken when I went to New Zealand in 2008.  My sister and I had a magical couple of days at a place called Hahei on the Coromandel Peninsula.  I had not been to that part of the country before.  As you can see, the weather was wonderful and we stayed in a very posh motel right on the beach here and swam before breakfast which is something we used to do when on holiday as teenagers.

The photos of the sunrise at the end of the bay were more dramatic because that is where the sun rose.

And again, the same place (more or less) taken in the late afternoon.

Like Celia, I seem to have a lot of photographs on this theme.  I couldn't decide between these two.

This photo was taken while on our boat at our mooring. It is probably the most spectacular sunset I've seen. It has both extreme light and extreme dark.

When I started looking through my photos, I began to realise just how many I’ve taken which fit this description. I finally chose this one – Winchester Cathedral at night, with a little bit of help from one of Picasa’s filters [I think it was ‘Soften’].

 

These are of the interior of the Cathedral, taken on the same occasion – soft electric light shining through the monuments onto the walls and floors.

Opposites: Dark/Light

Here we are, already another month. Is this year going fast or what?

The opposites for March are Dark/Light. Or you can also do Day/Night or Black/White. Any of those will do. You can post 2 pictures to show the opposites, or you can post a photo that has both in. If you come up with more than one set of opposites, you can post those, too!

You can use new photos or dig around in your saved images round about in your computer. and if it is something you have made which suits the theme, please show us!

To make the label simple, it will just be dark/light. So if you start typing it into the label box when you are writing your post, it will bring up all the prompts we have had so far starting with D. Choose dark/light and you will be sorted!

Now to look for something fresh to post myself.
