March

"Light exists in Spring
Not present in the year
At any other period
When March is scarcely here. "
Emily Dickinson

Here in the Pacific Northwest where I live, March is the time of year that if you catch the sun just right the moss and lichen on the trees look like soft, lush green velvet. This is a photo from a fallen tree on our property. As you can see, new trees are thriving on the nutrients from the "nurse" tree and the moss and lichen are thriving on the bark. I hope you can see the contrasts in texture in the photos. I wish you could feel the soft tickle of the moss on your finger tips.
