Beading

I read somewhere that when you reach 50 you should learn something new to keep your brain active so I learned bead weaving.  I learned both the peyote and ndebele (herringbone) stitches. I especially like doing free form beading and making "bead soup".  And, of course, like fabric, I have a giant bead stash!

Ndebele bracelet. I find bead weaving very calming and excellent for keeping my finger joints limber! I also like to use vintage buttons (yet another stash - and we won't discuss my doily collection - LOL) for the closures.
 More examples of free form.

An example of a very long rope necklace using twisted ndebele with jade beads in the trim.
